WHAT:
This 1½ hour interactive online course assists in teaching faculty practical skills in identifying and responding to students exhibiting behavioral patterns associated with depression, drug and alcohol abuse, aggression, and thoughts of suicide.

Through a series of interactive case studies, exercises, and role-playing simulations, faculty develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to handle situations they may face in real life.

Among other things, faculty learn to:
1. Identify potential indicators of mental distress in students
2. Manage conversations with students to determine the need for a referral
3. Properly refer students
4. Recognize their role as faculty, versus the role of counselors
