Book Signing Focuses on McGovern-Dole Global School Lunch Program

Author William Lambers will be signing copies of his book "The Spirit of the Marshall Plan: Taking Action Against World Hunger: School Lunches for Kids Around the World" at Borders Bookstore on 9459 Colerain Avenue on Saturday, March 22nd from 1-3:30. The McGovern-Dole Food for Education program, currently before Congress in the Farm Bill, is featured in the book.

Cincinnati, OH (Issues Wire / PRWEB) March 13, 2008 -- Author William Lambers will be signing copies of his book "The Spirit of the Marshall Plan: Taking Action Against World Hunger: School Lunches for Kids Around the World" at Borders Bookstore on 9459 Colerain Avenue on Saturday, March 22 from 1-3:30.

The book discusses building a global school lunch program to fight child hunger in countries like Afghanistan, Sudan, and Kenya. The work of charities like ChildsLife International (www.childslife.org), which runs the Stara School in the Kenyan slum of Kibera, are highlighted.

The McGovern-Dole Food for Education program, which funds school feeding programs in developing countries, is featured. The McGovern-Dole program is currently before Congress as part of the Farm Bill. Supporters of McGovern-Dole are urging the Congress to expand the program in the final version of the Farm Bill.

Mr. Lambers is a member of the World Food Program Committee of Ohio and will be distributing free materials at the book signing courtesy of the UN World Food Program. A collection of canned goods for the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank will also take place at the event to highlight local hunger issues.
