Play the Game - Deliver the Net - Save a Life

Each time someone signs up at NothingButNets.net to play the game, generous sponsors will send an anti-malaria net to Africa

Washington, DC (Issues Wire / Vocus) April 2, 2008 -- Urging millions around the world to “play the game” and “deliver nets,” the UN Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign launched today a new interactive game showcasing how insecticide-treated bed nets get delivered in Africa to prevent malaria.

It has never been easier to send a net and save a life
“It has never been easier to send a net and save a life,” said Elizabeth McKee Gore, executive director of Nothing But Nets. “We’re excited about this unique opportunity to be able send even more lifesaving bed nets and are grateful for the generous commitments from our generous sponsors. We encourage people of all ages — from students to CEOs — to play the game and click to give. Then send the game to your NETwork ... and spread the buzz!”

Throughout April, partners of the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets (www.NothingButNets.net) campaign — a global, grassroots effort to prevent malaria in Africa — will donate $10 to Nothing But Nets for each person who signs up to play ''Deliver the Net,'' a new online game that teaches users about bed net distribution and challenges individuals to deliver as many virtual nets as possible before the sun goes down and malaria-carrying mosquitoes come out to bite.

Visit www.NothingButNets.net/game to play the game and send a net.

A bed net is one of the most cost-effective and simple approaches to combating the spread of malaria — a leading killer of children in Africa. Ten dollars covers the cost of purchasing a long-lasting insecticide-treated bed net, distributing it to a family in need and educating the recipients on its proper use.

The first-ever World Malaria Day is April 25, 2008. Throughout April, Nothing But Nets is teaming up with millions of Americans to take action and help eliminate malaria deaths in Africa. Visit www.NothingButNets.net/WorldMalariaDay for more information.
