"Prior to Vocus, we used a separate clipping service and press contact database but nothing for overall PR management," Courtney McCarron, manager of Marketing and Communications/ Publications at The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International said. "There was no other comparable solution. Vocus was the only software that provided all the services we were looking for and we immediately knew it was the best solution for us."

"The electronic clippings and reporting functions have made my job so much easier on a daily basis and the activities functions that track all the interactions I have with the media have helped me organize my media relations," continued McCarron. "Vocus has given us the ability to finally create media impact reports and show our leadership the importance of public relations."

APCO International is the world's largest organization dedicated to public safety communications. With more than 70 years behind it, APCO International has a rich and interesting history worth exploring. APCO International is an association that provides its members opportunities to learn through offering professional development assistance, take action by presenting a unified voice for the industry and connect through online and offline networking events and activities. As a not-for-profit organization with only two staff members managing all of its communication activities, APCO International needed to simplify its PR activities to focus energy on getting results.

McCarron added "A PR management system provides us with some extra hands to get the work done and helps us keep it all organized for easy reviewing and reporting. I often describe Vocus as an additional staff member. It is a necessary tool for me to do my job."
